Comment: I have gone out on the pond several times and no bites and have not even seen any fish. The pond is shallow max depth 7 feet but really no ice this year. I think the reason for this is the storm brought so much sea water in the fish could not handle it. The water had risen 10 feet on to my property and then the out flow was blocked by a house that was destroyed for three days

I believe it's that time of year again. Time to bust out the kayaks, canoes, John boats, and bass boats.

Comment: We had that happen to a local honey hole of ours. All the sudden one year EVERYTHING was just gone and after doing some research, found out this had happened there as well. Sucks bigtime!

Comment: Never seen Bartlett, but let me guess its a shallow weedy pond?

Fish kills are normal during winter months. Thick ice and snow prevent photosynthesis creating a lack of oxygen. The decaying organic matter builds up and makes the water toxic to fish. Bigger the fish the more oxygen they need.

You can actually report fish kills on the Mass Fish and Wildlife website.
