Lake Boone Fishing Report

Made plans to go to Boone with my friend Scott from the basstechs late this week, decided to meet at my house around 7 am. we got to the launch around 8 am and there were already 3-4 boats in the water. we figured everyone would be in the coves and we were right, we squeezed in without bother anyone and started off throwing some jigs and shallow crank baits. We came up on so log lay downs and i was throwing the jig but something made me put it down and pick up my 2.5 crankbait i chucked it 3 times at this log slow rolling it over it, on the 3rd cast something smashed it, it was like a freight train! i fought with her for a back and forth she surfaced and we got a glimpse of her belly and scott immediately grabbed the net, at the same time she did a 180 and stripped my drag for a few feet and scared the s*** out of me, got her right up to the boat and i realized she was just barely hooked now right on the side of her mouth as she dove under the boat i got her back up and scott swooped in with the net and we went NUTS! i couldnt believe what just happened, we werent on the for 15 minutes! im shaking this thing looked all of 7 pounds i could fit my enitre fist in her mouth! we threw the scale on and weighed in at a whopping 6.45lbs of lake boone awesomeness. all week i was saying "i know there are lunkers in there ive seen plenty of them in person through tounrys and pictures but just havent boated one myself" finally i got one. my persistence paid off. we caught a few more but nothing worth talking about, heres the video once we had her on the boat
