Sawyer Lake 5/9/2014
Like last year, I was able to get in a little bit of fishing while turkey hunting in NH this year. Unfortunately, weather conditions were not nearly as cooperative as they were last year, and only one day produced any fish. On the plus side, they were some really nice fish! I didn’t have my scale with me, or even any measuring tape, so the sizes are just rough guesses. Maybe if any of you guys have that same tackle box you can get a good idea of the sizes. Of note was the fact that I caught both fish on my new Abu Garcia Rod with a nice Shimano reel. I got it last Christmas and have been itching to test it out on some bigger bass. It came through with flying colors!

First Bass of 2014! Catch

- Water Type: freshwater
- Type of Fish: Largemouth Bass
- Fish Length (Avg): 17.5 inches
- Fish Length (Max): 18 inches
- Fish Weight (Avg): 2 lbs. 13 oz.
- Bait Type: Worm Check Prices
- Bait Details: Since I didn’t have any of the right size of tequila sunrise power worms, the old Mann’s 8 inch purple jelly worms had to pull through, and did so. Both were rigged up my usual way; Texas rigged with a 3/16 oz. brass bullet weight and a 1/0 offset hook.
- Location Details: The fish pictured here is the smaller of the two, but not by much. I’m guessing him at around 17 inches and about 2 ¾ pounds. I hooked him closer to the dam then the other one.
